In 1944, 1000 state houses went up at the south of Naenae around Seddon Street, many built from prefabricated sections and erected in a day or two. A block of Star Flats followed north of Naenae Road in the late 1950s, and new state houses were added in 2020.
Homes of that age often still carry original pipework and drains, and the swampy ground under the basin adds its own risks. We fix leaks, clear and repair drains and replace hot water across Naenae, with a fixed price agreed first.

Homes in Naenae
Naenae is dominated by state housing, about 47% of homes as of 2019, from the 1944 prefabricated houses to the late-1950s Star Flats and new state homes built in 2020. The original houses are now around 80 years old, and many have ageing supply pipe and drain lines. Apartment blocks bring shared pipework, where a leak in one unit can affect others.
Common Plumbing Problems in Naenae
Emergency Plumber
State houses of this age often run original supply pipe and clay drains that are well past their expected life. Many emergencies here are a burst under the floor or a drain blocked by roots, and we carry gear for both. Emergency Plumber across Wellington.
Local Conditions in Naenae
Under Naenae lies loose silt and peat that may be prone to liquefaction, and pipes laid in soft ground can move over time. Streams were diverted into concrete channels in 1918 to tame flooding from the hills, so heavy rain still tests stormwater on low sections. In Hutt City the owner owns the wastewater lateral all the way to the council main, and Tiaki Wai runs the public network.

Plumber Naenae FAQs
Do you work for landlords and property managers in Naenae?
Yes. We report back with photos and a fixed price so the owner can approve work quickly, and we can deal directly with tenants to arrange access.
Why does my Naenae drain keep blocking?
In older homes on soft ground, the usual causes are sections of pipe that have settled and sagged, cracked joints or roots. A camera shows which, and we quote the right fix.
Who owns the sewer pipe from my house to the street?
In Hutt City the owner owns and maintains the lateral from the property to the council main. A camera inspection shows where any fault is before you commit to a repair.
Can you replace the hot water cylinder in an apartment?
Yes. We work within body corporate or landlord rules, size the replacement to the unit and restrain it properly for earthquakes.
